I had the opportunity to coach Re-al Mitchell during the 2022 season at the University of San Diego, where I served as the Offensive Coordinator. When Re-al did not earn the starting quarterback position coming out of camp, he responded in exactly the way you hope elite competitors do, with maturity, professionalism, and a team-first mindset. He immediately expressed a willingness to do whatever was needed to help the team win, and that openness became the catalyst for his impact on our offense. His versatility and football intelligence allowed us to develop a highly effective two-quarterback (2Q) package, where he played a critical role as a quarterback, wide receiver, and wildcat weapon. Re-al’s application of fundamentals, attention to detail, and film study habits enabled him to prepare at multiple positions while maintaining a high level of execution. He was extremely coachable and embraced every adjustment with a positive attitude, setting an example for his teammates. His leadership showed not through words, but through consistent preparation, accountability, and professional demeanor on and off the field. In my opinion, Re-al’s athletic ability, adaptability, and mental approach to the game project well to the next level. His willingness to sacrifice personal goals for team success, combined with his physical skill set, gives him the tools to compete at a higher level of football and pursue professional opportunities. I fully endorse Re-al Mitchell as a player who will add immediate value to any program or organization.
Coach Cory White
Offensive Coordinator
Re- Al Mitchell has been one of the most dynamic wide receivers I’ve had the opportunity to coach. He understands leverage, stem control, tempo variation, and how to create separation at the top of routes. Re- Al hand placement, body control, and ability to finish through contact consistently show up on film. He is one of the most consistent film students in our program, often asking detailed questions about defensive tendencies and situational football. His professionalism, punctuality, and accountability set the standard in our receiver room. He responds positively to coaching and seeks out feedback to improve. Real is a team-oriented competitor with the physical tools and mental makeup to play at a higher level. I firmly believe he has the potential to compete at the professional level and continue developing into a reliable contributor in a pro system.
